Tom Hurt and Harry Belk, who brought a lifetime of experience in the steel industry, founded Metrolina Steel Incorporated in 1977.
Metrolina Steel began as a small steel distributor, selling raw material throughout North Carolina.
In the early 1990’s, Metrolina Steel seized the opportunity to develop a fabrication division. What started with only a laser, shear, and an oxy-fuel burning machine, has grown into a full production facility with the capability to provide products ranging from those with precision laser cuts to large completed welded fabrications.
Metrolina Steel has been very fortunate to have first-class employees that are dedicated to making a quality product for the customers. Metrolina Steel’s philosophy resides in knowing the most important assets of the company are the employees and the customers. This has helped Metrolina to continue to grow and increase its capabilities.
In 2008, Metrolina Steel was able to consolidate the two plants into a new 108,000 square foot facility, which allowed the company to expand with a new 20-foot laser and large capacity machining center.
Metrolina Steel continues to grow and expand in new areas as we strive to meet the escalating needs of our current customers, and work to meet the needs of potential clients.
