Metrolina Steel was founded in 1977 by Tom Hurt and Harry Belk who brought a lifetime of experience in the steel industry to form the company.  Metrolina began as a small steel distributor selling raw material throughout North Carolina.

In the early 1990’s Metrolina seized the opportunity to develop a fabrication division.  Starting small with a laser, shear, oxy-fuel burning machine and shear we have grown to a full production facility with the capability to provide a precision laser cut product to large completed welded fabrications.

Metrolina has been very fortunate to have quality employees that are dedicated to making a quality product for our customers.  Metrolina Steel’s philosophy is the most important assets of the company are the employees and the customer.  This has helped Metrolina to continue to grow and increase our capabilities.

In 2008 we were able to consolidate our 2 plants into our new 108,000 square foot facility that has allowed us to add a new 20’ laser and large capacity machining center.

Our raw material division specializes in High Strength sheets and plates.  Metrolina can provide custom size material for special needs.  Plates can be temper-leveled to insure the material flatness, this is a very critical component for laser cut quality material.
